'ANOTHER FIELD': FARMING DIVERSITY

‘Another Field’ is an Arts Council England sponsored project to explore diversity in farming. The aim of the project is to introduce the concept of farming diversity to a wider audience. Through screen printing, etching, monotype & pochoir printmaking, I visualised how farmers are engaging with diversity in response to changing markets in uncertain economic times.
I worked with 3 farms who are demonstrating economic diversity through a range of different approaches: ‘From You to Ewe’ at Milliaries Farm in Sorbie, Dumfries and Galloway; ‘Ogilvy Spirits’ at Hatton of Ogilvy, Glamis, Angus and The Barn at Beal Restaurant, Coffee Shop, Bar and Campsite at Beal Farm, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A period of time was spent in residence at each farm producing preliminary work to be developed in the studio and at Northern Print print workshop, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The finished work will be shown at exhibition in Galashiels, Durham and Hexham 2017/18.
